It serves the local population with daily needs, including shoe repair.The blind walk the narrow street looking for alms.The old market sells everything out in the open, including goat for famous tajine dishes.Camel is also on the menu.Lattice covering over the old souk gives the area a pattern of light.Latticed patterns provided much needed shade from Morocco’s harsh sun.Cool stone Morrish interiors are utilised by many to rest and contemplate.Carpet sellers ply a persuasive trade in grand old houses.Carpets are still woven by hand on ancient looms.The back alleys of the old city hold many surprises around every turn.The tanneries, one of the highlights in Fez, are colourful and stinky experiences.Using techniques passed down through the generations, animal skins are cured and dyed to produce hand-made leather clothes and accessories.
